The IB Center will provide a detailed outlook on the development of the solar sector in the Central and Eastern Europe region at CISOLAR 2021, the 10th solar energy conference and trade fair for Central and Eastern Europe, which is scheduled for July 6th. 8 in Kiev. This year CISOLAR will present new functions in online and offline formats (including.cis-solar.com).

At the end of March, the administration of US President Joe Biden officially announced its key strategic goals for the US economy. The primary goal was to decarbonise the energy sector by replacing traditional electricity sources with renewable ones. In particular, this strategic program aims to reduce electricity costs for solar power plants by 60% over the next 10 years. Overall, the United States plans to spend more than $ 2 trillion over the next decade on expanding infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

It should be noted that more than $ 100 billion is being invested in building energy storage systems. In 2021 in particular, more than 20 new plants with a total capacity of 1.7 GW will be commissioned in California.

According to Vitaliy Daviy, CEO of the IB Center, such an unprecedented investment in green projects in the US will be a powerful catalyst for renewable energy development in other regions of the world.

“Everything that happens to the United States economy is projected onto almost every economy in the world. The United States is the world's financial leader. Therefore, the allocation of capital by the US government and corporations determines investment policy for the European and Asian markets. Joe Biden declared the next decade to be a period of rapid formation of a low carbon economy, including the development of solar energy, which means that other countries, including Ukraine, expect the same trends even if the government does not consider renewable energy a strategic priority today. The situation will change dramatically in no time, “said Vitaliy Daviy.

An additional dynamic for the development of the global solar market will be a new project investment mechanism that came into force in the European Union at the end of February this year. The new rules will allow EU member states to meet their solar energy targets by investing in projects in other EU countries.

According to the official IRENA data published in early April, the total capacity of solar power plants worldwide increased by 21.6% in 2020, i.e. to 714 GW. In particular, all European countries (including non-EU countries) increased the capacity of solar power plants by 14.5% (to 163.5 GW) in 2020. The figures on total capacity (7.33 GW) show that Ukraine ranks 6th in Europe and only industry leaders such as Germany (53.8 GW), Italy (21.6 GW), Spain (14 GW), France ( 11.7 GW) and Europe gives the Netherlands (10.2 GW). According to the growth rate of the solar sector in 2020, Ukraine ranks 4th with a rate of + 23.5%. For the American solar market, the total capacity of solar power plants in the USA in 2020 was 75.6 GW, 24.5% above the indicator in 2019.

Total investments in solar energy projects worldwide could exceed $ 80 billion in 2021, according to IB Center. The rapid growth of solar panels and commercial facilities for private households to ensure internal consumption will be the main trend in Ukraine in 2021.

By the end of 2021, the total capacity of solar power plants in Ukraine could reach 6-7% or 450-520 MW.

Especially on July 6th, the 10th International Conference on Solar Energy in Central and Eastern Europe will take place in the Hilton Hotel (30 T. Shevchenko Blvd.) in Kiev in two formats – online and offline. The focus is on new business models that meet the challenges facing companies in the period 2020-2021, as well as decentralized generation, energy storage technologies and waste management in solar energy. During the exhibition, the latest world trends, technological solutions and services will be presented. The CISOLAR 2021 online conference, presented by outstanding speakers, will continue on July 7th and 8th. This year, more than 100 international experts and more than 1,000 online and offline participants will take part in the CISOLAR 2021 speakers.

The best industrial projects will be determined at the CISOLAR AWARDS 2021 – Best Solar Energy Projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The companies will compete for the title of the best project in 5 nominations: Best Solar Energy System for Households, Best Medium-Sized Solar Energy Project, Best Large Solar Energy Project, Best Local Solar Energy Product, and Outstanding Personality in the Solar Energy Field.

In addition, ACCO International Exhibition Center (40-B Peremohy Ave.) is hosting the offline CISOLAR 2021 exhibition from July 7th to 8th, bringing companies the latest renewable energy technology advances, equipment, services and and business models of cooperation with potential dealers and partners as well as special offers for private customers.

From July 6th to 8th, there will also be a digital exhibition, which has become a fundamentally new and most effective tool for holding business events when communicating with the target audience without geographical restrictions. Anyone can visit the virtual booths of the companies, view the presented products and offers in a real-time environment, contact their representatives instantly via audio or video conferencing, and attend online company events.
