SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE) – APsystems welcomes SMA to its growing network of inverter manufacturers that are compatible with Sunsmec's standard APsmart branded photovoltaic quick shutdown equipment (PVRSE). Solar professionals in the US can now combine the full range of SunSpec Rapid Shutdown-certified SMA inverters with a reliable, safe and affordable APsmart Rapid Shutdown solution. The APsmart RSD is available in all US sales partner networks of APsmart and has been certified by CSA to UL 1741 for electrical safety. It fully complies with the National Electric Code (NEC) 2014, 2017 and 2020 690.12 requirements for fast shutdown.

“We are proud that SMA, one of the most respected and recognized brands in the industry, and its products have been added to our list of inverter manufacturing partners using the APsmart RSD,” said Olivier Jacques, president of APsystems and global executive vice President.

The APsmart RSD is already compatible with leading inverter manufacturers such as Chint, CSI, Delta, Fronius, GoodWe, Growatt, Solectria and Solis and has a 25-year guarantee. Tens of thousands of devices have been installed worldwide since it was launched last year.

“The APsmart RSD is Sunspec certified for fast shutdown and provides a simple, reliable, and affordable code compliance solution,” said Charles Ellis, vice president of sales, Americas, SMA America. “In conjunction with SMA inverters, installers can be sure that this technology delivers the best performance in its class.”

Due to intensive tests and the cooperation between SMA and APsystems, the approved rapid shutdown solution will now be available to customers via the APsmart sales channel.

“The APsmart RSD solution is rapidly being accepted as the new industry benchmark for fast shutdown devices,” said Dr. Yuhao Luo, CTO of APsystems. “We have developed a high-performance, reliable product that focuses on the safety of homeowners and first aiders through its core function.”

The technical documentation for the RSD-S-PLC can be found on the APsmart website. Interested installers and SMA sales partners can also register there for an upcoming training webinar on APsmart PVRSE.
