Solar Energy Powers COVID-19 Remedy – Saudi Gazette

GENEVA – In some of the poorest parts of the world, where there is no access to a reliable power grid, the United Nations is equipping hundreds of healthcare facilities with solar technology to prevent blackouts and save lives.

Formerly dependent on expensive and polluting diesel generators, which often do not provide enough electricity, more than 900 healthcare facilities, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa, have been equipped with devices such as solar roofs and batteries.

You've got access to clean, affordable, and reliable electricity while saving money that can be reinvested in healthcare.

The health facilities that benefit from the Solar for Health initiative supported by the UN development program are making a positive contribution to the introduction of vaccines in their countries: COVID-19 vaccines must be stored safely at low temperatures, which can only be achieved where there is such a low risk of power outages. – UN news
