Huawei promised to turn every room into a data center as it introduced a new, intelligent modular data center solution for small and edge computing scenarios, including three data center products – FusionModule2000, FusionModule800 and FusionModule500 – designed for different industrial needs.
The SmartLi UPS – Huawei's intelligent lithium battery UPS – is the key to the Smart Modular Data Solution and helps companies of all sizes to transform any room into a data center. Since no traditional raised floor design is required, there are far lower demands on the ceiling height. Instead, air conditioning pipes and high-voltage and low-voltage cables are laid from top to bottom so that the devices can also be accommodated in low ceilings 2.6 mfar below that 3 m Minimum height required for a traditional data center. Huawei partner NetCraft Information Technology (Macau) has already taken over this solution, the NetCraft Sales Director Benjamin Wong Praised at the event.
“With the Huawei Modular Data Center solution, all of the required components are modular,” said Wong. “An easy way for customers to understand this solution is to realize that each component is like a building block: you can build your lock by adding different blocks so that you can add more blocks in the future if necessary.”
One rack supports one megawatt of power
Over the next five years, information technology (IT) devices will continue to evolve, requiring more and more computing power and density. Inevitably, the demands on the CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the server performance will also increase. Therefore, to balance efficiency and cost, data centers will evolve towards higher density models, exactly in the direction that Huawei’s ongoing investments in research and development (R&D) have been: namely, implementing a high density, efficient and intelligent power supply and distribution system.
As a direct result of this phase of exploration, Huawei launched an ultra-high density modular UPS lineup – UPS5000-H – that uses a new hot-swappable ultra-high density power module of 100kVA / 3U. It is the first UPS in the industry that enables a single standard rack to support one megawatt of power. With high density, high efficiency and intelligence, this series effectively reduces physical footprint and reduces the number of man-hours required for installation compared to other UPS solutions. Once it is operational, the system efficiency reaches 97%. In addition, the system is unencumbered and efficient at rest.
Simple site power
A critical trend in digital transformation is the widespread emergence of digital locations – telecommunications locations, edge computing locations, video locations, and more – reflecting the increasing convergence of information and communication technology (ICT). In fact, both AC and DC power supplies are required to provide power to various Internet of Things (IoT), CT (Communication Technology), and IT (Information Technology) devices on-site. In contrast to the traditional use of multiple AC and DC power systems that form a kind of patchwork model, Huawei's iMagicPower uses an integrated multifunctional design that supports solar, diesel generator (DG), grid and battery as power inputs. It also offers different power output modes including 12/24/36/48 V DC output and 24/220/380 V AC output. Since all functional parts are modular, precise configuration is possible and future expansion is simplified so that companies can build according to their needs and resources.
To store and secure energy at the site level, Huawei has introduced CloudLi, a fifth generation energy storage system. Compared to traditional lithium batteries, Huawei CloudLi offers improved performance in terms of power density and reliability, as well as a range of intelligent features that enable customers to reduce both capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX). CloudLi is especially important as there are staff restrictions in place during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It supports remote, intelligent O&M (O&M) and eliminates manual tasks such as on-site inspection and maintenance.
Company presentation Wöhrle, one of Huawei's power system partners based in Germanyhas experience with iMagicPower and CloudLi. The company's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) has determined that the high reliability of the solutions ensures that they function safely even under harsh conditions in a wide temperature range. Intelligent functions enable optimal monitoring of the lithium batteries.
