The REC Group launches a brand new vary of REC Alpha solar modules

| |

The REC Group, an international solar energy company headquartered in Norway, has launched the new REC Alpha Pure Black solar panel.

With lead-free production and a significant increase in performance, the new panel represents a significant advancement of the REC Alpha, which was introduced in 2019, according to the company. The REC Alpha Pure Black will start production in June at REC's fully automated manufacturing facility in Singapore. The first deliveries are expected in July.

With advanced cell technologies and half-cut heterojunction cells in a seamless layout, the REC Alpha Pure Black delivers up to 405 Wp. The REC Alpha Pure Black is based on REC's twin design and the patented split-cell and junction box technology, which is already available has proven popular in REC solar panels, including the original Alpha series. With 219 W per square meter, the panel offers one of the highest power densities on the market.

The REC Alpha Pure Black series marks an important step forward in terms of sustainability. REC says it removed lead from all panel components. This means that the panel complies with the European RoHS regulation, which is mandatory for all types of electrical products, but not for photovoltaic modules. A solar panel usually contains a small amount of lead relative to its total weight. On a large scale, the impact is significant, especially if solar panels are recycled at the end of their life. Last year alone, around 400 million solar modules were manufactured worldwide, adding around 10,000 tons of lead to the ecosystem.

The seamless layout uses every millimeter of the plate surface by avoiding typical gaps between the cells. Since aesthetics play a role in solar applications on the roof, this seamless layout in combination with a black back panel gives the REC Alpha Pure Black series a seamless appearance, which, in addition to its lead-free construction and high performance, makes it a convincing choice for both solar modules Residential and commercial roofs.

The new REC Alpha Pure Black series is entitled to the premium guarantee package REC ProTrust, which offers product, service and working time coverage for up to 25 years – with a guaranteed service of at least 92% in the 25th year of operation.
